Young Beatriz Andrade has a clear goal in mind: to become a National Geographic photojournalist. At just 18 years old, Bea is determined to pursue her dream and has already taken some steps in that direction.<\/p>\n

Beatriz’s passion for photography is driven by her belief in the power of images to spark interest and fascination about the world we live in. Aware of the importance of the sea in Ericeira’s history and identity, it seeks to capture the essence of this special relationship between the local community and fishing.<\/p>\n

the sea has an immensity of meanings for me that I cannot even describe<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ericeira’s fishermen play a key role in preserving the cultural identity and sustaining the local community. By exploring the lives of these brave men of the sea, Beatriz delved into the depths of their daily routines and captured the essence of their devotion.<\/p>\n

Witnessing the hard work involved in fishing, from preparing the nets to unloading the catch, Beatriz was inspired by the sacrifice and determination of Ericeira’s fishermen. Her photographs not only portray the beauty and challenges of the sea, but also the intimate connection between fishermen and the ocean that sustains them.<\/p>\n

By getting to know the daily life of Ericeira’s fishermen, Beatriz had the opportunity to meet, among others, Ant\u00f3nio Franco Alberto<\/a>, a 54-year-old fisherman who has been fishing since he was a child. With pride, \u2018Ant\u00f3nio Porras\u2019 told how his boat equipped with radar and sounder works, highlighting the importance of these technologies for the safe navigation of fishermen: \u201cThe sea has an immensity of meanings for me that I cannot even describe. It’s my livelihood, my life,\u201d says Ant\u00f3nio.<\/p>\n
