It is based on these principles that the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC) announced an initiative aimed at making some of the most important Portuguese monuments accessible to all.<\/p>\n<p>From now on, visitors to the Convent of Christ, Alcoba\u00e7a Monastery, Batalha Monastery, Mafra National Palace, monuments classified as World Heritage, and the Machado de Castro National Museum, in Coimbra, will have volumetric models of the buildings and replicas of constructive and decorative details. These models and replicas can be touched, allowing a better apprehension and understanding of the historical heritage.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>providing all visitors with an enriching and inclusive experience to promote equal access to cultural and historical heritage<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the DGPC, this project is part of a broader initiative of \u201cAccessible and Inclusive Communication\u201d, supported by Turismo de Portugal, through an application to the \u201c Programa Valorizar\u201d (To Value). This program is a support line for Accessible Tourism \u2013 All for All and has an investment of around 159,000 euros.<\/p>\n<p>The DGPC intends to extend the project to all the museums, monuments and palaces that are assigned to it.
