{"id":5352,"date":"2014-02-12T14:30:18","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T14:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/?p=5352"},"modified":"2014-02-12T14:33:01","modified_gmt":"2014-02-12T14:33:01","slug":"ericeira-nominated-best-holidays-destination-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/en\/ericeira-nominated-best-holidays-destination-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Ericeira nominated for best holidays destination in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photography:<\/strong> Jos\u00e9 Guerra<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The hotel reservations website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotel.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hotel.info<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalgrasshopper.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">GlobalGrasshoper<\/a>, an international portal for &#8216;independent travelers&#8217;, are electing the best holidays destination among the hamlets, villages and small towns of the European continent with a population of less than 100 thousand inhabitants.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of this initiative is to elect the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotel.info\/en\/blog\/europe2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Best Big-Time Small Destination&#8221;<\/a> from among the places where the tourism for the masses still hasn&#8217;t arrived. This contest accounts for &#8220;52 small and scenic settlements&#8221;, where Portugal is represented by both Ericeira and \u00d3bidos.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is made through qualifying rounds in which two destinations will &#8216;battle&#8217; among themselves for the next round. Ericeira&#8217;s opponent is the &#8216;baroque pearl of the baltic sea&#8217;, Narva, in Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>The organization of the contest highlights the beaches and waves of Ericeira: &#8220;A paradise for surfers&#8221;. Besides that are also mentioned the &#8220;beautiful panoramic views&#8221; and the &#8220;best shellfish of the are&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Ericeira &#8211; Narva round, there are also in place additional voting &#8216;duels&#8217;, such as La Valeta (Malta) vs Lindos (Greece), Dubrovnik (Croatia) vs Toledo (Spain), Bodrum (Turkey) vs Ordino (Andorra) or Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) vs Sitges (Spain).<\/p>\n<p>To vote on Ericeira as the Best Big-Time Small Destination in Europe, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotel.info\/en\/blog\/europe2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
