{"id":49978,"date":"2022-07-12T00:01:58","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T23:01:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/?p=49978\/"},"modified":"2022-07-04T15:13:12","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T14:13:12","slug":"mafra-selected-for-european-climate-change-adaptation-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/en\/mafra-selected-for-european-climate-change-adaptation-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Mafra selected for European climate change adaptation project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photography:<\/strong> Antonio Dias<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mafra is part of the list of eight Portuguese regions and local authorities chosen, out of a total of 118 at European Union (EU) level, to implement projects to adapt to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>These plans are intended to help in the fight against climate change, supporting the European Climate Pact and the EU Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change, of which eight Portuguese regions and localities are part of the respective implementation list: Cascais, C\u00e1vado, Coimbra region, Fund\u00e3o, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Mafra, M\u00e9dio Tejo and Vila Pouca de Aguiar.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>from deadly heat waves and devastating droughts to wildfires and shorelines eroded by rising sea levels<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The European Commission considers that \u201cfrom deadly heat waves and devastating droughts to wildfires and shorelines eroded by rising sea levels, climate change is already taking its toll in Europe and this affects not only the environment and the economy, but also the health of Europeans.
