A new street art exhibition was officially opened recently in Ericeira. \u201cPreserving Ecosystems\u201d is an initiative of the organization Skeleton Sea, with the support of the Municipality of Mafra and Ericeira, as part of the commemorations of the 10th Anniversary of Ericeira’s World Surfing Reserve.<\/p>\n

Pra\u00e7a da Rep\u00fablica (popularly known as \u201cJogo da Bola\u201d) hosts this exhibition, which, making reference to the stingray fish and its traditions, aims to raise awareness on reducing the consumption of single-use disposable plastic and preserving ecosystems \u2013\u00a0 1,000 plastic bottles are used in this exhibition, representing the average number of bottles a person consumes over a year.<\/p>\n

Skeleton Sea<\/a> is an artistic project, founded by a group of three surfers who want to pass on the message to keep the oceans clean and respect nature and human rights, through several actions such as, for example, the use of debris and garbage from beaches or aged materials in artistic interpretations and in the creation of sculptures.<\/p>\n

At the end of March, a 50 meter long Sea Monster was mounted at the Lisbon Oceanarium, which resulted from the picking up of 12 tonnes of disposable plastic bottles from Pingo Doce Eco-Schools and supermarkets – Purify by ECO <\/a>initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
