What do you love the most and like least about Ericeira?<\/strong><\/p>\n

What I like the most is the sea, which can be felt and breathed throughout Ericeira, and the waves of our coast. What I like least are the harengued folk and the arrogance of certain people, but that is another story\u2026<\/p>\n

what worries me the most is the loss of identity of the village<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What are your main concerns for the present and for the future of Ericeira?<\/strong><\/p>\n

What worries me the most is the loss of identity of the village. With the prices of the current real estate market, locals are forced to go and live outside their homeland because they do not have the financial means to face the super inflated prices that are practiced, which outsiders can easily afford! We risk selling our souls to the devil! There is a clear inequality between locals and foreigners, to our own detriment and to our own land!<\/p>\n

My other major concern is the future of many in this place in the face of the \u201cpandemic\u201d: practically all businesses in Ericeira depend on tourists and tourism is experiencing a huge decline. We don’t know what the future will be like and what’s coming. The crisis, in my humble opinion, is just beginning and we are all going to live in difficult times. Maybe it’s time to look for other solutions that don’t depend on tourism – I don’t have any solutions, but I think we all have to start preparing new plans.<\/p>\n
