“Ericeira, oh Ericeira. Anyone who knows you with you lives dreaming. Ericeira, oh Ericeira, those who don’t know want to visit you”. This is the translated chorus of the song “Ericeira (Western Paradise)”, by the singer Sissi.
Featured on the album “Olá Português Trigueiro”, released in 1997, the song pays a beautiful tribute to this town, where the sea is bluer. Throughout the lyrics, we are transported to the universe of fishermen, with passages such as “And you earn bread at night on a trawler / fishermen who make Ericeira even more beautiful / there is always a new reason in this hospitable land / for the voice of our people to be heard in Ericeira”.
With an engaging melody and lyrics full of poetry, this song is a true relic of Portuguese popular music that deserves to be appreciated and valued.
