Ericeira has the ocean, simultaneously, as an ancestral calling and destination on its horizon – this isn’t new for those who know the village.
Whether in the past as a commercial port of enormous importance, nationwide – in the late 19th century –, or right now as the only World Surfing Reserve in Europe and (at least for now) as the home of a resilient artisanal fishing community or, in the future, how it comes to be: it’s in its DNA.
